How Betting Differs Across T20, ODI and Test
Cricket's three formats — T20, One Day International (ODI), and Test — each offer a different betting experience. T20 matches finish in a few hours, so odds move quickly every over and live betting stays very active.
ODI matches play out over a full day, giving you the chance to adjust bets mid-innings. Test matches last five days and a draw is a possible result — this changes the odds structure. Franchise T20 leagues like BPL (Bangladesh Premier League) and IPL, along with ICC tournaments, are the most followed among bettors in Bangladesh.
When the Bangladesh national team, the Tigers, plays in a bilateral series or a World Cup, betting markets at 75bdt expand further. Pre-match bets before the game and in-play bets during it are both available on one platform.
How Football and Other Sports Betting Differs
Football Betting
Football has three outcomes — win, draw, or loss. This three-way market is different from cricket's T20-style two-outcome (win/loss) market. Markets like goal line over/under and both teams to score/not score are unique to football. Three-way outcome
Cricket Betting
T20 and ODI typically have two outcomes; Test has three. In cricket, in-play odds change ball by ball — a wicket or a six shifts odds instantly. Over-by-over run totals and partnership markets are available only in cricket. Ball-by-ball odds
Tennis
Tennis offers set-by-set betting and game total markets. There are no draws, so the market is straightforward — but in-play odds change with every point.
Kabaddi and Others
Betting markets for kabaddi and other local sports are limited, usually covering just match winner and handicap — far fewer options than cricket.
Multi-Sport Multi Bet
You can combine markets from different sports in a single multi bet. Adding a cricket match winner and a football over market to the same slip gives you combined odds.
7 Popular Markets and How They Work
Cricket betting offers far more than just win or lose. Before placing a bet in any market, make sure you understand how that market works.
Match Winner
The most familiar market — bet on which team will win. Example: Team A faces Team B and you bet on Team A. If Team A wins, you receive a payout based on the odds; if they lose, your bet is lost. T20 and ODI have no draw, so there are only two options.
Toss Betting
Bet on which team will win the toss before the match starts. This market has no connection to the match result. Odds are usually even, since a toss is a 50/50 outcome.
Top Batsman
Bet on which batsman will score the most runs in an innings or across the whole match. With multiple candidates, odds are generally higher, and a strong innings can change the result at any point.
Total Runs Over/Under
Bet on whether runs in a match or innings will be above (over) or below (under) a set number. Example: line is 160 runs — if Team A scores 175 the over wins; if they score 148 the under wins.
Multi Bet
Add multiple selections to one bet slip. If all selections win, the odds are multiplied and your return is higher. If any single selection loses, the entire bet is lost. A detailed odds example is given in item 4.
Handicap
The stronger team is given a virtual disadvantage. If Team A has a -30 run handicap, that margin is factored into the settlement — this brings the odds for both sides closer together.
Man of the Match
Bet on who will be named the best performer in the match. It could be a batsman or a bowler. With many candidates the odds are generally high, and the result is confirmed at the end of the match.
How to Read Decimal, Fractional and American Odds
Three formats for writing odds in the same market — all express the same probability, just presented differently. The examples below use a ৳500 bet.
| Format | Team A (Win) | Team B (Favourite) | How to Read |
|---|---|---|---|
| Decimal | 2.25 | 1.50 | Total return = bet × odds. ৳500 bet × 2.25 = ৳1,125 total return (৳625 profit). |
| Fractional | 5/4 | 1/2 | Denominator = stake, numerator = profit. 5/4 means ৳5 profit on a ৳4 bet. |
| American | +125 | -200 | Plus means profit on a ৳100 bet. Minus means how much you must bet to make ৳100 profit. |
Example 1 — Team A wins (odds 2.25)
Decimal 2.25 = Fractional 5/4 = American +125. A ৳500 bet returns ৳1,125 in total if you win (৳625 profit + ৳500 stake). If you lose, ৳500 is gone.
Example 2 — Favourite Team B (odds 1.50)
Decimal 1.50 = Fractional 1/2 = American -200. American minus odds show how much you need to bet to make ৳100 profit. A ৳500 bet returns ৳750 in total if Team B wins (৳250 profit).
Odds examples are for illustration only — they are not live odds and do not guarantee any specific winnings. Betting is for entertainment purposes.
Odds Shift on Wickets and Overs — How In-Play Works
In-play or live betting is the most active experience. You can still place bets after the match has started, and odds are recalculated after every ball.
When a wicket falls, the batting team's odds may lengthen (lower chance of winning means higher odds), while a big shot or a good run rate shortens them. In the final overs, when the required run rate is high, match winner odds change very quickly.
In live betting there is less time to decide. Set a limit on how much you are willing to bet before you start. To learn about responsible betting at 75bdt, read the Responsible Gaming page.
Impact of Wickets
When a team's key batsman is out, that team's odds of winning lengthen. Multiple wickets in the powerplay cause odds to shift even faster.
Death Overs
In the final five overs, if the run rate climbs or the target moves out of reach, live odds change very frequently — this is when the market is most active.
Suspension
In certain situations (rain, Duckworth-Lewis recalculation) markets may temporarily close. This is a normal occurrence and markets reopen once play resumes.
A Few Practical Tips Before You Start
Set a budget first
Decide how much you will bet in a session before you begin and stick to that limit. Betting is a form of entertainment — do not treat it as a source of income.
Focus on one market at a time
Start by getting comfortable with straightforward markets like match winner or total runs. Placing bets across too many markets at once increases the chance of confusion.
Be careful with multi bets
A multi bet multiplies the odds and raises the potential return, but if any single selection is wrong the entire bet is lost. Odds example: 1.40 × 1.80 × 1.90 = 4.79 combined odds, so a ৳100 bet returns ৳479 if all win; but if even one loses, the full ৳100 is gone.
Use the app
The 75bdt Android and iOS app is available through official channels. Live scores and in-play markets update quickly on the app, making it convenient on mobile. Find out more about the 75bdt app.
Know the rules and terms
Read the market rules before placing a bet — in particular, find out what happens if a match is abandoned or settled under the Duckworth-Lewis method. All details are on the Terms and Conditions page.
